First of all, I would like to thank you for the lovely comments you left on my previous post. I appreciate them so much! They went unanswered because we have been away on a trip to Central California. We saw so many things my mind refuses to process it all.
We drove down highway 1, the beautiful scenic road that meanders down California coast.
We saw thousands of elephant seals molt from up close.
We visited the magnificent Hearst Castle in San Simeon.
And we looked at the orderly rows of grape vines on the hills of Paso Robles.
Once I go through all the pictures I took I will make more detailed posts on the trip, but for now this will have to do - I am too tired... I am looking forward to reading all the new posts on all my favorite blogs and catching up with you all. Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
Feels like I have been there with you. Waiting for more posts, anticipating)
ReplyDeletePiękne wybrzeże. Widoki wspaniałe.Słonie też bym chciała pooglądać w ich naturalnym środowisku.Odpocznij i pokaż więcej z wycieczki. Pozdrawiam
ReplyDeleteYour trip is enviable. I so wish I followed your path, the scenery, animals, architecture and farms, what a trip!
ReplyDeleteLovely, Masha ! I am waiting, for your gorgeous pictures !
ReplyDeleteI'm a native of CA and your photos bring back so many memories!! Highway 1 is one of my favorite places. The closest I come to an elephant seal here in Northern VA is my fat dauschund. :o)
ReplyDeleteWow! Such a breathtaking view. I'm told that Hearst castle is a magnificent place to visit.
ReplyDeleteNice trip. Okay, I give...what is the orange rose, 4th down on the right had side of this page?
ReplyDeleteNice trip. Okay I give up...what is the orange rose (fabulous bloom) 4th down on the right hand side?
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteIrina and Giga and Dani, I will try to post fast then, although I have about a 1000 pictures to go through...
Donna, it is such an amazing place. You can almost point the camera at random and shoot with your eyes closed and still get a great view...
Casa Mariposa, I am glad I brought some memories back for you. Highway 1 is indeed beautiful even if those hairpin turns are sometimes scary :). Sections of it have been closed since March because of a landslide so we still couldn't stay on it all the way.
RR, you are right, words fail me when I try to describe it. The extreme opulence, the abundance of rich architecture and antiques, coupled with sweeping views and zebras grazing alongside cows is almost too much to take in.
Professor, it is Pat Austin, one of my best Austins for vigor, health, fragrance and rebloom. The downside is the blooms shatter quickly and age to an ugly dirty pink. But nothing's perfect :)
Oh, what a wonderful trip it must have been! Wish we would travel more, but at least I can do it virtually! I look forward to seeing your posts!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful sights Masha. The coast line looks so beautiful with the blues of the ocean. Hearst Castle looks like a wonderful place to visit.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Holley. We have not done much travel either - we are lucky to have so much to see just a drive away.
ReplyDeleteLona, thank you. You are right, these places are spectacular, we are already planning our next trip there :).

ReplyDeleteSpectacular photos, Masha! I especially love the one taken at Hearst Castle. It is so "architectural". Looking very much forward to the more detailed posts about the different destinations of your trip!
ReplyDeleteChristina
The coastline looks lovely. I can feel the salt air on my face!
ReplyDeleteGiga, that's OK. I just wanted to let you know, in case you were wondering why so few people were writing...
ReplyDeleteChristina, thank you. Hearst Castle was wonderful, and quite unlike anything I have ever seen before. I just hope I can come with an adequate description of it...
Thank you, GirlSprout. Me too!
What a gorgeous coastline! Can't wait for the rest of the photos, Masha.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sherry, I am working on my next post:)
ReplyDeleteThe elephant seal makes me feel quite thin, and not so bad about the brownies I baked (and thoroughly enjoyed) today. Great post. Beautiful! I too, am looking forward to the next set of photos. Thanks for sharing!
