Impressions of Carmel

Here are a few pictures from our recent trip to Carmel-on-Sea and the Carmel Mission.

I won't repeat my post on the Mission (you can find it here).

However many times I go, it is always a delight to stroll through their wonderful, lovingly tended garden and see how it changes from season to season.

There were fall-blooming Japanese anemones which I also have in my garden...

...lots of roses...

...tibouchina urvilleana...

...a beautiful big brugmansia...

....and monarch butterflies.

We didn't take a walk through Carmel-on-Sea because I still have a bit of trouble walking, but Carmel Bay was beautiful: warm, peaceful and calm.

It was a day to remember.

  5. Masha, I really, really love your photos. They are all gorgeous. The one of the tree and blue sea is my favorite for this post. The other really gorgeous one is the potted flowers at the windows.

Have you been hopping around with a camera?

  8. That's the wonderful thing about gardens. You can always find something different to see. The pictures of the ocean are wonderful, too. Sorry you're still having problems with your leg. I hope you're going to a physical therapist.

  11. Masha, I hope you are feeling better. What a lovely place to visit (and recuperate)! I especially love the pictures of the brugmansia... It's one of my favorite "large" plants but we couldn't keep ours. It's not hardy here so we had it indoors in the large arched window - it was almost 7 feet tall and full of blooms. Unfortunately, one of our dogs wanted to snack on the leaves and it's quite toxic to pets. ;( So it has a new, pet free home. All of your photos are truly wonderful!

  12. Masha,

Looks like you had a wonderful day! I am sorry to read, though, that your leg still bothers you. You have captured three of my favorites - brugmansia, Japanese Anemone, and Princess Flower - in three absolutely lovely pictures.

I need to make a trip to the Carmel Mission; I have never been.

    Cheers,
    Jo
