No analyzing disease resistance, or vigor, or the quality of late autumn blooms (no bush shots either), just a nice slow walk through the garden looking at the gentle light falling on petals.

As I walked among the roses, I was thinking about Oscar Wilde who wrote that there is hope for those "to whom beautiful things mean only beauty".

So I tried to find beauty in beautiful things. Maybe there is hope for me :).

ReplyDeleteI am not sure what to make of the quote. It seems like a very narrow observation, "beautiful things mean only beauty", like beautiful things should mean much more. Well anyway, you certainly captured beauty in the beautiful things. Lovely roses and hips.
ReplyDeletePhoto Therapy. Hmmm... How true. I usually talk about Pet Therapy. Your captures are always amazing. I like your berry shot. It looks as if there are many invisible ones.
ReplyDeleteOK, seriously, I think I'm going to have to visit your blog constantly this winter. Because it is just so beautiful and hopeful. And I don't like winter. So, thank you for providing something I can look forward to in the months ahead. Sigh... :)
ReplyDeleteI want to look as gentle and pretty as your roses ^__^
ReplyDeleteRose Therapy? Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteCompliments.
Ciao

Rose Therapy, Masha ! I need a walk in a garden like this too ... Thank you, for the beautiful photos !!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice and peaceful weekend !
Co jedna to piękniejsza, ale dla mnie ta z czwartego zdjęcia jest najpiękniejsza.
ReplyDeletePS. Brakowało mi Ciebie :-). Pozdrawiam
Piękne wspomnienie lata i piękne zdjęcia.
ReplyDeleteI did the exact same thing the other week when I was feeling overwhelmed ... I have Hollywood Cemetery about an hour from here. An afternoon spent in that beautiful setting with my camera, and I came home in a much better mood. I hope your trip to the garden did the same for you.
ReplyDeleteNothing better !
ReplyDeleteWe could also speak of Blog therapy : a visit on yours makes my day brighter.
Absolutely gorgeous photos! Thanks for sharing. What camera do you use? Did it have a macro feature or was it manual?
ReplyDeleteHello Masha...What a pleasure to take a walk in this garden. All roses are délicious but i prefer Elie Beaurlain and Mme Alfred Carriere.
ReplyDeleteGood evening Jocelyne
One of the things I love about OPG (other people's gardens) is the fact that you can just look at the pretty, and indeed, not have to notice the powdery mildew, or the blackspot or the fact that it needs to be pruned or...
ReplyDeleteA walk trough my own garden is also a therepy for my. Thanks for takings us to this beautiful rosegarden. And your picture's are fantastic like always.

Hi Masha, I am so happy for you that you were able to walk through the roses at the SJHRG and hope that the beauty of the roses has rejuvenated you! I certainly enjoyed looking at your photos! To me 'Elie Beauvilain' looks exceptionally pretty and really do like 'Mme. Jules Bouché'. Thanks for this beautiful post!

Wunderschöne Fotos! Liebe Grüße Annette
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. The stamens on Lady Penzance
ReplyDeleteare stunning.
I love roses! Thank you for taking these gorgeous photos. My favorite is the white Carriere rose with that beautiful blue sky in the background, a nice contrast. I'm so happy to see my Julia Child Floribunda still blooming, even though it's in the 30's at night here in the Pacific Northwest. She always hangs on a long time.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI visited your blog today - I saw you on 'HH Photography.' Your photos are so lovely, colorful, and full of life! I love roses, especially the red rose. While I was reading, I noticed that you are from San Jose. I have many relatives that live in San Jose area. Me and my daughters started a new blog, and we would love it if you could visit us and follow. I would enjoy coming back to visit with you, and maybe you could take a picture of the beautiful red rose for me. I hope to hear from you, and have a sweet day.
