Spring flush is still weeks away, but a few roses are already beginning to open. In my garden, potted roses are usually first because their roots warm up faster.
Next are the florist roses in a south facing protected spot, then teas. Austins and once bloomers don't get going until late April - early May, but by then I am too busy watering, deadheading and feeding to mind.

We stopped briefly by the Heritage Rose Garden today. There too, only a few blooms have opened, but even those few were a delight to see. All pictures below are from the Heritage.

That number from Vintage is a beauty ! I have no roses yet here in Napa , but this was one of my 'heavy prune' years. Things were getting a tad out of control.
ReplyDeleteFirst Roses of the season, oh joy! I love them all. Thanks for sharing, Masha!
ReplyDeleteI like your lovers, but I am sighing when I see already flowering roses, I especially Pompon de Paris, this one is still on my wishlist. Today we have some sun, so I continue pruning roses this afternoon, spring is in the air.
ReplyDeleteMasha, wonderful spring! It's warm, sunny, and roses! I love 'Dragon's Blood', is this a tea hybrid?
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week!
Love the color of that Dragon's Blood, Masha. Nice to see some roses, even if they're still just a distant dream in my area.
ReplyDeleteRoses blooming already! How wonderful! I can't pick out a favorite - they are all so wonderful to see!
ReplyDeleteGood to see Roses already Masha, here, I am still waiting for the Crocus to show some colour.
ReplyDeleteU Ciebie zaczynaja już kwitnąć piękne i pachnące róże, a u nas śnieg za oknami. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteIn you already begin to bloom beautiful and fragrant roses, and we have snow outside the windows. Yours.
Wow, wow, wow, how wonderful your roses are already bringing you flowers. Overhere we have to wait until the begin of June before the first roses are opening up. At the moment we keep our fingers crossed the roses did survive the long and cold winter overhere. I hope you make a lot of posts of your roses so I can dream about is coming up in a couple of months. Beautiful photo's Masha.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.

Alex
You have so many beautiful roses and what a variety! Mine have yet to bloom, but the weather has been so mild that I expect to see the first blooms any day soon. I get the best blooms in May. I can hardly wait! Our doves are out and about too looking for a suitable home.
